Our birthing center, complete with home-like birthing suites, creates an atmosphere in which childbirth is a healthy, safe and joy-filled experience. Specially trained mother/baby nurses provide expert care in our fully equipped level II maternity care facility and infant intensive care nursery. Classes in childbirth, parenting and sibling preparation add to your preparedness and confidence.
Brevard MRI—828-883-5185
Brevard MRI at Transylvania Community Hospital, a joint venture between the Hospital and Asheville Radiology Associates, is located on the Hospital campus. Brevard MRI offers comprehensive magnetic resonance imaging services, and all images are interpreted by Asheville Radiology physicians, usually within one day of the scan. Same day appointments are often available, especially for emergent needs. Call 883-5185 for more information, or talk to your doctor about scheduling your MRI right here, close to home!

As part of our commitment to a healthy community, the Hospital presents a full calendar of seminars, workshops, fairs and support groups. For a schedule of our programs, click on the Wellness & Events Calendar. Regular events include:
- Educational programs on asthma management, diabetes care, foot care, childbirth preparation, nutrition counseling and wellness topics.
- Senior Health Insurance Information holds a monthly Q&A session and offers personal consultations about Medicare and Medigap insurance.
- Our Speakers Bureau has experts who can address a range of healthcare topics and are available to speak at local events.
Community Support Programs—828-884-2007
To improve access to healthcare, TCH oversees a variety of programs and assists patients in tapping into those and other resources, including:
- Community Alternatives Program for Disabled Adults (Cap/DA) helps Medicaid patients find home-care services in order to delay or prevent the need for nursing home care. Call 828-883-5254.
- Medical and Special Needs Transportation (MedDrive) provides transportation for medical and special needs. Call 828-884-3203.
- Rx Assistance assists those who cannot afford their medication apply to pharmaceutical companies for free medications. Grants for emergency situations are available. Call 828-883-5002.
Diabetes Care & Education
Those living with diabetes find a comprehensive range of care available at TCH.
- Education programs teach self-management of the disease and how to avoid its side effects. Patients learn how the disease affects the body and how to keep their systems in balance. The Hospital’s program is based on national standards set by the American Diabetes Association.
- TCH’s registered dietitian helps patients create healthy eating plans that fit their lifestyles.
- Wound Care/Ostomy and Continence Services offers individualized treatment programs for diabetic foot care, as well as chronic and acute wounds.
