Transylvania Community Hospital to Host Halloween Blood Drive
BREVARD, N.C., Oct. 23, 2007—Transylvania Community Hospital will host a blood drive on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on the hospital campus in Brevard.
Appointments for the blood drive are required by calling 883-5470. Donors should enter the hospital through the Transitional Care Unit entrance and report to the Human Resources Department for registration.
“With the holidays fast approaching, this is traditionally the time of the lowest supply of blood available,” said Kristin Connor, TCH’s Human Resources manager, who is helping organize the community blood drive with the American Red Cross. “I encourage everyone who is able to come out and donate blood on Halloween.”
All donors will receive a T-shirt that proclaims, “I gave my blood in Transylvania.” To donate blood, you must be at least 17, healthy, weigh at least 110 pounds and have not donated blood in the past 56 days. Walk-in donors will be accepted, but those who have registered in advance will be seen first.
